This website is the Internet home of Carmel McGinley. Carmel has a passion for data visualisation and predictive analytics.
Carmel’s clients come from the government, commercial and non-profit sectors. She has developed analytic models to predict demand for government services, assess advertising effectiveness and determine the likely adoption of IT products, to name just a few. Carmel is currently very interested in Social Network Analysis.
The work Carmel does is differentiated by its presentation. She condenses last amounts of complex data and analysis into attractive dashboards and visualisations. A strong advocate of Microsoft Excel, Carmel develops applications and visualisations in this ubiquitous desktop tool but will turn to SPSS, Microsoft Access or any of a number of other tools to get a job done. She is currently exploring the potential of the Processing language for data visualisation.
Carmel has lectured in Information Management and Marketing in Australia and South East Asia and has written, coordinated and delivered courses for the University of Western Australia, one of Australia’s top universities. She has run many office productivity and research related commercial training sessions and is an accredited workplace trainer and assessor.
With a background in economics and business statistics Carmel is also very interested in design. She is currently enrolled in a Master of Digital Design at the University of Canberra and creates jewellery in her spare time. She sells some of her own designs at Tangibles.
Originally from Perth, Carmel now lives in Canberra with her husband and two sons.
